Our Story
A few years back, I was sitting in my office at work daydreaming about fishing in my favorite pond back at my family farm. Ten years prior, I had moved to the big city of St. Louis, earned my MBA and found success in the corporate world as a wealth manager for one of the top firms in the city. And yet, something kept pulling me back to the farm.
I grew up in Marshall, Missouri and loved the trips I took back home. I dreamed about someday returning to the area and running my own farm - maybe in retirement - but couldn't have realized how quickly my life would change once I opened the door to a different path.
For years, I had been passionately interested in fitness and nutrition. During my trips back home - mostly while fishing in my favorite pond - my thoughts began to crystallize as to how I could merge my passion for health and wellness, my desire to get back to green fields, and leverage the business skills I had honed over the years. An idea... a dream was born.
Maybe this dream didn't have to wait until retirement, I realized. I had a choice to make -- continue down the well worn path of my corporate career, or begin a new adventure as a farmer. I knew that running a farm would be very different from my comfortable life in the city, yet I was excited by the challenge of starting a business that could make a real difference in people's lives. My years in finance had taught me the importance of doing the right thing for my clients. I would find a way to deliver not only tastier, but also healthier beef to my clients' dinner plates. So, I decided to walk away from the office and into the fields.
Cloverleaf Farms' mission is to provide high quality grass fed and grass finished beef in our local area. We believe in quality of life for our animals - they range freely on pasture without confinement, consuming only grass. Diet and living conditions make an enormous difference not only in the health of our animals, but in the taste of our beef.
